HB 1279: Education

Summary:

The bill extends the date for Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) programs to achieve programmatic accreditation. Beginning September 1, 2032, all MFT licensure applicants must graduate from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) or the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

After this date, degrees from non‑accredited programs will not be accepted and applicants will be unable to supplement a non‑accredited degree with additional coursework.
