The Governor’s Appointments Office is currently accepting applications for appointments to the Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling. The Board was established to ensure that every clinical social worker, marriage and family therapist, and mental health counselor practicing in Florida meets minimum requirements for safe practice. The Board is responsible for licensing, monitoring, disciplining, and educating clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists, and mental health counselors and when appropriate, rehabilitating licensees to ensure competency and safety to practice in Florida.
The Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling plays a leading role in the ever-changing health care environment through dialogue with the public, the legislature, academia, and the community. The Board consists of nine members appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate. Two members are Florida licensed clinical social workers in good standing, two members are Florida licensed marriage and family therapists in good standing, two members are Florida licensed mental health counselors in good standing, and three are consumer members. Consumer members are citizens of Florida who are not and have never been licensed in a mental health-related profession and who are in no way connected with the practice of any of the regulated professions of this Board.
