When will I need to renew my license?

Licenses must be renewed no later than March 31, every odd year.

Does Florida recognize reciprocity from another state?

No.

What are the requirements for licensure as a Pedorthists?

The minimum 120 hours of training must meet the following requirements: the training must take place in a program approved by ABC, the training must include the five major domains: Pedorthic assessment, techniques and applications, patient management, practice management and professional responsibility.

The internship must consist of 80 hours of Pedorthic work experience under the direct supervision of a licensed orthotist, licensed pedorthist, and orthotist certified by ABC, or a pedorthist certified by ABC.

Where can I find information regarding a practitioner’s disclosure of confidential information relating to an AIDS patient?

See Section 456.061, Florida Statutes that states there is immunity from civil or criminal liability if your HIV positive patient discloses the identity of a sexual or needle sharing partner.

How long does it take to receive my national exam score report at the board?

National Clinical SW exam: about two weeks from date of exam.

 NCMHCE: about 3-4 weeks from the end of the monthly exam week.

 National MFT exam: about 4 weeks from the last day of the testing window.

Where can I find test schedules and sites?

Contact the ASWB testing service at www.aswb.org 1-800-225-6880 for sample test booklet, online practice exam, and outline of clinical level exam content. Contact NBCC testing service at www.nbcc.org or (336) 547-0607 for sample test booklet and online practice exam. Contact AMFTRB (719) 388-1615 for national MFT exam information and online practice exam at www.amftrb.org.

It is recommended that you complete a Web search using the search term “exam prep” or “test review” for each profession.

As a registered intern, am I required to obtain continuing education?

No, there is no requirement that a registered intern obtain continuing education.  However, you may choose to complete the 8 hour laws and rules course, 3 hour HIV/AIDS and 2 hour domestic violence requirement for licensure while you are a registered intern.

I have changed supervisors; what do I need to do?

Your supervisor needs to notify our office in writing, (fax or e-mail directly from the supervisor is acceptable) that they will be your new (or additional) supervisor.  Our office will notify you in writing that this person is acceptable as your qualified supervisor.  Supervision received from the new supervisor will not count until we have notified you in writing that your new supervisor is approved.

Can I sit for the national examination before I finish my post-masters supervised experience?

Yes.  If you have completed the education and practicum requirements and are a registered intern you may be approved to sit for the examination.  Please visit our Exam Schedule page for more information.

I’ve just submitted my application for intern registration. Can I begin counting my hours now?

No. Chapter 491.0045, F.S. requires that you register as an intern (you will actually receive a license number as such) prior to commencing and counting the hours towards the post-master’s experience.
